More Blind Believes Unblinded

It is good to question, since questions bring answers resulting in enrichment of ones' wisdom.
I hope we start that age of questioning our belief systems, so that we reach the trough of solution called enlightenment.
This blog is me reporting an incident that happened recently, one of my chinese colleague (female) asked me - "why do indian women sport bindi, kunkuma or sticker on there forehead?".
Hmmm very simple question right ??
i am sure many including me don't know the answer, add + 50 years of false propaganda and some ignorance to spice up and there you have it - A nice cooked up curry of another indian blind belief.

So i have to dig up to find an answer to her question and the reason takes quite an explanation,

According to indian philosophy (which includes psychology, metaphysics, psychoanalysis to a name few because our ancestors believed they are all inter-related). The human body is made of 7 chakras (energy centres) Muladhara (located in the vicinity of Bladder),Swadishtana ( pubic and genitals) ,Manipura ( Navel),Anahata ( Heart), Vishuddhi (Throat or thyrodal region),Agnya ( between the eyebrows),Sahatrara( skull centre at top of head).

The Sixth is believed to be the control centre for intuition and self awareness, some literature reports it to be the intersection of two optic nerves of pituitary and pineal controlling the quality of ego and superego.

In order enlighten the subconscious mind and to train the psyche to realize the agnya chakra and forgo ego also control emotions this physical part is highlighted with kunkum/bindi very much similar to something of increased importance in a good reading habit is underlined or highlighted in various color markers.

I guess this should be a reason good enough apart from the visual embellishment for not only women but men also to sport kunkum.

If observed carefully all the ancient characters of mythology ( i should not use this term coz myth means false) sport tilak/kunkum in there regular attire. Since females are always regarded with utmost importance, it has come down to have been compulsory among the females which is not quite true at present.

The beauty of hinduism ( this is not a relgion just a practise) is its not bounded its very liberal you just needed to opt what to follow and what not to.

I reported her making the long story short and simple.
